Yeah, FreedomWorks, I’m gonna need you to sit down right quick. Sit. Down.

What exactly counts as domestic violence? The newest version of the VAWA, S.47, contains veryvague and broad definitions of domestic violence. A man that raises his voice at his partner, calls her an offensive name, stalks her, causes her any emotional distress, or simply just annoys her can potentially be prosecuted under the VAWA. Calling your spouse a mean name is not advised or polite, but it isn’t the same thing as violence towards her.

Do you know part of WHY stalking is in VAWA? It’s because every state has a different definition of what counts as stalking, & many, many stalkers go after their victims across state lines. And what is recognized in say…Tennessee is a million times different than in say, South Dakota. Cyberstalking is part of VAWA, because guess what-a ton of people that are cyberstalked are also stalked ‘in person’…across state lines. Maybe if we lived in a country where states will all play by the same ‘even’ rules it wouldn’t need to be there, but guess what…none of our states want to play ball with the ones beside them.

Don’t even think about going there.
